John McMillan, commissioner of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, told the Montgomery Advertiser on Thursday that inmate labor through the state’s work-release program offers a short-term solution to the sudden labor shortage that has hit Alabama since enforcement of its illegal immigration law kicked in.

Some farmers have said the state’s new law has driven away Hispanic migrant farm workers — and without another potential labor source, they say produce may have to be left to rot in the fields.

Where does that leave us. Something definitely went down. The evidence is a matter of public record. Still questions remain.

On February 5th 2011, HBGary Federal, or its CEO AarOn Barr, announced that he had successfully infiltrated the renowned Anonymous secret society and expressed his deep desire for feeling a large, anonymous penis in his body, possibly two. At this point in time, AarOn was still Aaron, since his “o” was still unenhanced. AarOn Barr continued with the promise to reveal details about his infiltration work on a security conference in San Francisco, of all places. Consumer-relevant fact: it is not typical for security executives to openly talk about infiltration targets. This should make any potential customer suspicious about giving a contract to such a company. Neither is it professional to solicit emasculating surprise sex from anonymous hacker groups known for their sophistication, as Anonymous is, because that’s precisely what AarOn Barr did when he bragged about how he had done Anonymous eight different ways. AarOn Barr also promised to sell the real names of Anonymous leaders to the FBI on said conference in San Francisco for profit. This was a BIG mistake, because Anonymous has no leaders to begin with, and this demonstrated to even remotely clueful people in the audience that the CEO did not know what he was talking about. Protip: never hire a security professional who knows less about security or its targets than the general public. Such operations are not called “intelligence” for nothing.

Egypt’s police and domestic security services continue to be dogged by persistent, credible allegations of abuse of detainees.  Police brutality in Egypt against common criminals is routine and pervasive, resulting from poor training and understaffing. Over the past five years, the government has stopped denying that torture exists, and since late 2007 courts have sentenced approximately 18 police officers to prison terms for torture and killings. In March, a court sentenced a police officer to 15 years in prison for shooting a motorist following a dispute.
